Soundtrack – Scary Movies

Soundtrack - Scary Movies
Today on Soundtrack we're heading into pretty scary territory with Halloween classics to blood-soaked thrillers to Oscar-winning blockbusters!

SOUNDTRACK is your one hour red carpet ride to the marvellous music of movies and television. Will give you the inside scoop on the songs, and feature the films and TV productions in which they were played – we’ll also catch up when we can to the songwriters, composers, producers, directors and music supervisors attached to the tunes and of course we’ll enjoy the songs themselves. As you might imagine with hundreds of thousands of TV shows and movies made over the years the scope for SOUNDTRACK is massive – so we’ll give each episode an area of focus and shine the spotlight on that. On today’s episode we’re heading into some pretty scary territory. Webster’s Dictionary defines fear as “an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.” That’s a fact, but as for ‘scary’ – well scary is a relative term – I mean what some might find entertaining and amusing might just keep me up for days and it did. BUT ’tis the season for ghosts and ghouls and werewolves and witches and all sorts of things that go bump in the night. The movies we feature on this episode run the gamut – from Halloween classics to blood-soaked thrillers, Oscar-winning blockbusters to wildly independent, stand-alone horrors to remakes to frightening franchise films – and as for the music – that’s just as deviously diverse from original scores to terrifying turns on standards, classical tunes to perfectly places songs that serve to reinforce the theme and take the edge of the ever-so gruesome.
