SEA AND BE SCENE... And HEARD Watch & Listen

Ruth Lawrence on SEA AND BE SCENE and HEARD

Broadcast Date: September 16, 2020

Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable… and these are certainly joyful and exciting times for movie lovers here on Canada’s East Coast as September 17th marks the start of the 40th Annual FIN Atlantic International Film Festival – and even though the team has moved everything to their newly minted FIN Stream for your virtual viewing pleasure – I needed to catch up with one incredibly talented lady who’s poised for a tremendous time of it. Indeed Newfoundland’s own Ruth Lawrence has made her life’s work on the stage and screen – be it behind the scenes or front and centre with an incredible roster of award winning roles and industry reverence.  And this year she’s added another credit to her incredible resume – making her feature film directorial debut with the wonderfully layered family drama LITTLE ORPHANS – set to make it’s world premiere as an Atlantic Gala Screening on Friday, September 18th, and if that weren’t enough she’s stepped in front of the camera to star in William D. MacGillivray’s oh-so-moving UNDER THE WEATHER which will take the Atlantic Gala screening spotlight on Saturday, September 19th – and I’m here to tell ya – her performance is incredible! So we’ll talk about these two powerful projects and so much more – including her process for directing, her amazing abilities to multi-task and her affinity for horses. Plus we’ll get to 1st Things First, play a rapid round of INsights IN 10 and spins some of her favourite soundtrack tunes along the way – so with all that head lets get to it. Here’s my conversation with the one and one Ruth Lawrence.
