We’re always excited when there’s “Action!” here on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, but we are over the moon to report on this one – and based on her Instagram feed Author Emily Jenkins aka E. Lockhart @elockhartbooks is too!
Her novel “We Were Liars” was the Winner of GoodReads Best Young Adult Book back in 2014 now 10 years later the series adaptation is headed to camera with filming locations set for Chester and surrounding South Shore communities this summer.
Described as “a tragic love story and an amnesia thriller set on a privately owned island off the coast of Massachusetts,” WE WERE LIARS centers on the very rich and apparently perfect Sinclair family with the three Sinclair sisters played by Mamie Gummer (from True Detective and The Good Wife) as Carrie, Caitlin FitzGerald (of Succession) as Penny, and Candice King (from The Vampire Diaries) as play Bess Sinclair. The brilliant David Morse of everything from The Hurt Locker to The Green Mile will star as the family patriarch, Harris Sinclair. And…
Just announced to join those amazing leading ladies is Emily Alyn Lind (from Gossip Girl and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) who – for the record- we adored as little Amanda Clarke on Revenge – will play Cadence. Add to that Esther McGregor (from TV’s Obi-Wan Kenobi) who will play Mirren, Joseph Zada (of Invisible Boys) who’ll play Johnny, and newcomer Shubham Maheshwari who will play Gat and we’d say you’re looking at a very solid line up of talent. Sure hope they enjoy their time off-camera as much as they’re sure to on set.
More cool news – as huge fans of DAISY JONES AND THE SIX it’s very cool to note director Nzingha Stewart is attached to direct the first episode of WE WERE LIARS set to begin filming in June and eventually stream on AMAZON PRIME.
No word on a premiere date but we’ll keep you posted.
