Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable. With today’s guest I was over the moon, and I mean as far as fun flag-wavers for PEI go you’ll find no finer… or for the record busier! Now for the sake of full transparency I want to share two things – the first is that I would need a couple dozen shows to squeeze in all of this woman’s work – from her early days in front of the camera on EMILY OF NEW MOON to her directorial debut of THE SNAKE making it’s world premiere at SXSW last month there have been countless creative projects for the big and small screen. And the second – we recorded this call amidst the tiniest smidge of daylight on her schedule during the Canadian Media Producers’ big PRIME TIME 2026 festival this past January, where she was booked to speak as an industry expert – so we were limited time-wise there too. Did we talk about her making Playback Magazine’s prestigious 10 to Watch list? No. Did we celebrate all the amazing this she’s done with the Charlottetown Film Festival (now Anchorfest)? I promise I’ll put that at the top of my list for our next chat. For this call, I was focused on her super cool debut feature THE SNAKE and how she was feeling about it screening at one of the coolest festivals on the planet. We talked about her righteous company Club Red Productions, what it takes to be a producer, as many of her projects – past, present and future and naturally her affinity for the homeland. Plus – we got to 1st Things First, played an enlightening round of INsights IN 10 and even spun some of her favourite tunes along the way. So with all that ahead, we best get to it. Here’s my telephone conversation with the one and only Jenna MacMillan.
