I’ve gotta say connecting with today’s guest was such a treat. Ontario-born, LA-based actress Vinessa Antoine first appeared on SEA AND BE SCENE because of her guest starring role as Evidence ‘Evi’ Ryan on the 2nd season of the Syfy/Showcase hit HAVEN – we had a great on-camera conversation back in 2011 and loved having her in a bunch of special features for the site. Neither one of us knew then she would return to Canada’s East Coast but this time for the starring role in a brand new series for CBC called DIGGSTOWN that was shot on location here in Nova Scotia last summer. In it Vinessa plays Marcie Diggs “a star corporate lawyer who reconsiders her priorities after her beloved aunt commits suicide following a malicious prosecution – joining a team of community service lawyers Marcie finds herself a part of a curious band of do-gooders, cynics and scrappers – all of them messy souls struggling to keep personal disappointment and demons out of their practice as they strive to find justice for their diverse clients – and oh my goodness is it good.” So we’ll talk about her title character and so much more – including her fabulous co-stars, filming in Atlantic Canada and surfing in the Atlantic Ocean. Plus we’ll cover her long run on GENERAL HOSPITAL and her magical time on BEING ERICA and squeeze in a fun round of First Things First and INsights IN 10. Given that the lady’s got a brand new show set to premiere catching her for six minutes is a feat but asking her to sit still for 60 minutes – that’s something else entirely – So Vinessa agreed to take my call while she made her way through a busy day in LA – so apologies in advance for the background noise we’ll ID as we go.
