Celebrate National Canadian Film Day

National Canadian Film Day April 21 2021

SO EXCITED!!!! Thrilled beyond measure to be a part of National Canadian Film Day 2021 on April 21st. While there are so many reasons to be excited – what with so many incredibly amazing Canadian movies to see for FREE – it’s fair to say my OVER THE MOON HAPPY status can be directly attributed to my great friends at FIN Atlantic International Film Festival. You see it was that great group of lovely folks who invited me to celebrate in their screening of the East Coast masterpiece THE GRAND SEDUCTION by interviewing the film’s mega award-winning director Mr. Don McKellar following the final credits. What follows are the official event details from FIN along with the link to get YOUR FREE TICKETS to the film and the very fun Q & A to follow.

Now in its eighth year, National Canadian Film Day (NCFD) has taken root as our largest annual celebration of Canadian culture. It is about giving Canadians an opportunity to gather together (in person or virtually) and celebrate the incredible achievements of our nation’s filmmakers. Every year hundreds of screenings take place on every conceivable platform and, in normal times, in every conceivable venue. This year on April 21, 2021, Canadians everywhere will be watching a great Canadian film. FIN is proud to be a part of the 2021 National Canadian Film Day, and will be offering a FREE screening of THE GRAND SEDUCTION on our FIN Stream digital streaming service platform. THE GRAND SEDUCTIONwas the Opening Night Gala Presentation of the 2013 Atlantic Film Festival and was nominated for four Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Picture. SYNOPSIS: THE GRAND SEDUCTION tells the tale of a small Newfoundland fishing village that must secure a new doctor in order to keep the community alive. When city doctor Paul Lewis (Taylor Kitsch) arrives for a court-ordered trial residence, the townsfolk rally to charm and hoodwink him into staying. Under the guidance of an unemployed fisherman (Brendan Gleeson), they go to hilarious lengths to make it seem as though their sleepy town has everything Dr. Lewis could possibly want. Will the good doc fall for their tricks, or will he see through them to the truth about small-town life? Adapted from the 2003 Quebecois comedy, SEDUCING DR. LEWIS, THE GRAND SEDUCTION is a dramatic comedy of the highest caliber that manages to blend rural hijinx with heartbreaking humanity.
