For as long as I can remember I’ve been singing. Lately maybe not as much as I’d like to but for a while there – that was my full-time focus. Although truth be told when I first started singing professionally I had a completely different career – working a way-more-than-full time job as an Account Director at a corporate communications company in Toronto, Ontario. I’ve often told the story about how it was during the launch of a brand new attraction at the CN Tower (one of my many awesome clients) that I just happened to slip my tape (yes I’m that old) to the New Country station’s Morning Show Team who were there to cover the event. They liked it so much that they had me in to do some parody tunes for their station. For example – they changed the words to Mary Chapin Carpenters “Passionate Kisses” to an ode to the Leafs where the hook was “Stanley Cup Wishes.” It was great fun – sadly the song didn’t work – although it seems as though nothing has – but I digress. It was those two fellas – Cliff Dumas and John Rodenburgh who introduced me to my first producer Randall Prescott on a Monday and the following weekend I was at his Lakeside Studios in Clayton, Ontario cutting the very first track to my very first album – LOVE & DREAMS. I can remember it like it was yesterday and yet so much has happened since.

In fact I released two full length albums – the second one called WAY OVER MY HEART in Nashville, TN with Jeffrey Steele and Tom Harding at the helm, shot 14 music videos (I’ve embedded a few below but they’re all on YouTube along with a few live performances too), 3 backstage specials for CMT Canada, played at festivals across Canada, entertained the troops in the Middle East, visited just about every radio station from Victoria to St.John’s, was nominated for some Canadian Country Music Awards, took home a couple of Ontario Country Music Association Awards, oh and toured with George Jones. Crazy right?! And those are just a few of the highlights.

And somewhere between my first and second album when I started doing more music videos and hosting specials I pitched to CMT Canada I started to think how much I enjoyed the broadcast side of the business. BUT I always loved singing. I sure loved my band – THE HAPPY BOYS. I’d co-written songs on both albums and have co-written 3 more since (all Christmas) and wouldn’t you know it got to perform duets on some lovely projects – “Separate Lives” with Aaron C. Lewis and “Cry” with Jason Price. Will there be more music – YES! In the meantime I hope you’ll check out my music – all available on iTunes. #hinthint
