Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable. It certainly was all that and then some connecting with today’s guest – whose multi-award winning and storied career includes the Artist Director Title at some of Canada’s greatest theatres including – Edmonton’s Mayfield Theatre, Stage West Canada, Hamilton’s Theatre Aquarius and Nova Scotia’s own Neptune Theatre too. With a passion for popular American comedies and musicals he’s been at the helm of everything from the Rocky Horror Show and to Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. Now he’s up to something totally different – but incredibly creative all the same. A transformative theatrical experience about Destiny vs. Chance. This mysterious and interactive one man show called THE GIFT which he wrote and directed is currently running at St. Andrew’s Church Hall in Halifax – to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. So we’ll talk about all of that and so much more, including how THE GIFT star Robert Lamar first approached him with the concept and the critical role Nova Scotia’s own dynamic duo of Brookes and Fiona Diamond play in the production. We’ll also get the inside scoop on the rather serendipitous way this small town Saskatchewan born fella found his way into a lifelong career in the theatre. Plus we’ll get to 1st THINGS FIRST, an enlightening round of INsights IN 10 and even spin some of his favourite tunes while we’re at it. So with all that ahead we best get to it. Here’s my telephone conversation with the one and only Ron Ulrich.
