Broadcast Date – May 31, 2023
Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable… now for the sake of full transparency, I’ve been a huge fan of this lady’s work for a long time now – at least a decade and a half to be sure of it – because she’s one-third of the Juno Award-Wining pop-folk trio Good Lovelies. Renowned for their stellar songwriting, amazing musicianship and oh-so-heavenly harmonies, she along with bandmates Kerri Ough and Susan Passmore have been wowing the crowds and building up a fan base all around the world thanks to their constant creativity and a steady stream of tour dates. As a matter of fact, they just wrapped up a string of shows and just in time too – as today’s guest is set to hit the road for her first-ever solo tour to promote her first-ever solo project. Fortunately for us, those dates include stops here in the Maritimes and that album entitled EVERYTHING AT THE SAME TIME is chock-a-block full of beautiful and breathtaking originals. So we’ll talk about all of that and so much more – including where she found the inspiration for this incredible collection of songs and how she goes about deciding which tunes are better suited for a solo swing and which ones would be great for Good Lovelies. We’ll also get her take on destiny, get the scoop on her favourite spot to swim and dig into the fantastic focus she’s found in gardening. Plus we’ll get to first things first, play a fun round of INsights IN Ten and squeeze in as much of her marvellous music as we can within the hour, so with all that ahead – we best get to it! Here’s my EXTENDED telephone conversation with the one and only Caroline Marie Brooks.
