SOUNDTRACK is your one hour red carpet ride to the marvellous music of movies and television. Will give you the inside scoop on the songs, and feature the films and tv productions in which they were played – we’ll also catch up when we can to the songwriters, composers, producers, directors and music supervisors attached to the tunes and of course we’ll enjoy the songs themselves. As you might imagine with the million-plus TV shows and movies made over the years, the scope for SOUNDTRACK is massive – so we’ll give each episode an area of focus and shine the spotlight on that, and for this show we’re shining the spotlight on that truly patriotic occasion known and loved as NATIONAL CANADIAN FILM DAY!!! Indeed, today, April 15th, 2026 is the day when theatres and special venues all across this great country will be screening movies made right here in Canada, and thanks to REEL CANADA, a charitable organization dedicated to introducing Canadians to the power and diversity of Canadian film you can watch an amazing assortment of Canadian films for FREE!!! That’s right in hundreds of cinemas and schools, retirement residences and libraries, community centres and museums and lots and lots of other locations – on this very day – you can watch incredible Canadian productions FOR free. So if that’s not a reason to celebrate I don’t know what is. Now as much as we’d love to feature every single one of the couple hundred screenings on the go here on SOUNDTRACK we’re still limited to the one hour allotted but rest assured we’ve got it jammed packed with as many as we can squeeze with a little something special for everyone – from classic pop tracks to indie folk tons of killer needle drops and some song original songs written specifically for the screen, we’ve even got a banger of a tune that inspired the movie itself. And in celebration of this very occasion, we’ll be weaving in words from the filmmakers and stars themselves Oh, I’m so glad you’re celebrating NATIONAL CANADIAN FILM DAY 2026 with me, it’s gonna be a fun one.
