Broadcast Date – February 20, 2025
Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable – and you know it’s always a great occasion when our conversion is in celebration of a brand new event – that was entirely the case with today’s guest as the countdown is on to the very first A L’IL AFFAIR – a show created in salute to International Women’s Day and the artists who performed at Lilith Fair. Set to take place on Friday, March 7th at the wonderful Sanctuary Arts Centre in Dartmouth with a sensationally stacked lineup of exceptional East Coast artists with one heck of a house band to boot. Now that is fantastic on its own – but it’s worth noting with it – today’s guest has added a new role to her roster – in addition to that of her day job as a Marine Biologist not to mention her side gig in all areas of support behind the scenes with her award-winning and wonderful singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Chris Kirby she’s donning another hat – for the very first time as Event Producer. So you best believe we’ll talk about all of that, and so much more. Including the fundraising effort at the core of the evening – with proceeds from the event going to Funk Island Lab –which among other awesome things hosts songwriting camps that combine professional writers with emerging artists, and aspiring youth from around Atlantic Canada to collaborate, create, and learn in a diverse and inclusive environment. We’ll get the inside scoop on their string of successful sessions and learn about the now legendary bird that flies amidst all that creativity. Plus we’ll discover what life was like back in her hometown of Grand Falls Newfoundland and hear how she feels about having a song written in her honour. We’ll even get to first things first, play a fun round of insights in 10 and spin some cool tunes from some of the artists in the A L’IL AFFAIR lineup. Hey, and be sure to stay tuned until the end of the broadcast as The Sidekick will pop in for a programming update. So with all that ahead we best get to it. Here’s my telephone conversation with the one and only Victoria Howse. (You’ll find the PLAYER at the bottom of the post)
