Sarah D McCarthy on SEA AND BE SCENE and HEARD 2021

Broadcast Date – October 13, 2021

Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable.

And what a treat it was to connect with today’s totally talented and ‘on top of the world’ guest. I say  ‘on top of the world’ because not only did she just give birth to the sweetest baby girl but just last week, her new TV show VOLLIES premiered on Bell Fibe TV 1. And as you’ll discover that ‘totally talented’ billing has everything to do with the fact that she co-created and stars in this hilarious new series.  The story of the Essex-West-Essex Fire Department – a truly rural and completely volunteer based station that has everything a real fire department does: a shiny truck, immaculate uniforms, playful nicknames. In fact, the only thing they don’t have are fires. A real high-stakes low-flame world that is filled with the funniest of folks including co-creator and one of our favourite fellas on the planet Jonathan Torrens. VOLLIES is so funny in fact that they’ve already been green lit for a second season! So we’ll talk about all of that and so much more – including how she first met Mr.Torrens and the rapid rate at which she and the Canadian Content Studios team got their inaugural season shot. We’ll also discover the personal connections she shares with the premise and the great way in which they cast for the show. Plus we’ll get to First Things First, play a fun round of INsights IN 10 and spin some of her favourite tunes along the way. So with all that ahead we best get to it – here’s my telephone conversation with Liverpool, Nova Scotia native Sarah D. McCarthy. (you’ll find the player right after the show notes)
